United We Stand

Did you vote for the troops and support the professional military commanders who are saying they need more troops, or did you acquiesce to the liberal east and west coast wings of your party?

Is winning the war against terrorism more important that partisanship?

Do you believe in victory, and do you believe America can win?

Retreat is not a strategy of victory.  Give our troops the tools they need:  your unfettered support--not words, they are meaningless, but actions.  These despicable non-binding resolutions do nothing more than divide Americans, and aid and abet the forces that seek to kill our troops.

Victory is the only exit strategy, and Americans must unite behind this cause.  The American people are sick and tired of Washington politics of back stabbing and oneupmanship. We expect Democrats and Republicans to work with President to unite our country behind the cause of victory.  The actions of the last two weeks are not meeting those expectations.  There's a lot at stake here, and it has nothing to do with elections.  Let's work together to beat these terrorist threats against our country and our allies.   For as the old saying goes:  united we stand, divided we fall.

Disgusted

What more can be said about our defeatist Congress?  Disgusting.  They have chosen to abandon our troops, although their words sound high and mighty--their actions have told professional military officers who are planning and executing the war in Iraq that they are stupid and that untrained, non-military Congresspeople know more about how to run a war.

17 White Flag Republicans, as they are now known as, joined the Defeatocrats.  Two Democrats exhibited the bravery and strength of Truman.

Someone recently said that Congress does not having the mettle of the American people.  If you say that about our WW2 generation, I would agree wholeheartedly.  But obviously we are not as great as our brave forebearers, since we elected a defeatist Congress.  We as a country do not have the guts that our parents' generation had.

What if Ike gave up on D-Day?  What if MacArthur did not return to the Philippines? What if Hap Arnold looked at his losses in the air war over Europe and said, no more?  Only if we had a Truman in Congress.  We have one in the White House, but it's not popular being commander in chief.   Being a real leader is never popular.

Only if our Congress had the backbone that our troops in the field have--that would be a victorious team wouldn't it?  The military won Vietnam, Congress lost it.  The Defeatocrats and the 17 White Flag Republicans want to repeat history, and we can't let them.

There she goes again!

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says President Bush lacks the authority to invade Iran without specific approval from Congress.  Well, that's interesting. There's an obscure document written from 1789 called the Constitution of the United States.  It's pretty radical, and a lot of people haven't read it.  But it says that the president is the commander in chief, which means he has the Constitutional authority to move troops any where he deems necessary.  He could move them from Fort Bragg to Fort Lee, or from Fort Bragg to Timbuktu.

Maybe she should look at one of the Democrat's favorite Presidents, Thomas Jefferson.  He was the first President to exercise this authority, and didn't ask Congress if it was OK to send the Marines to Tripoli.  Jackson, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton all  followed suit, and exercised this authority.  And that's just off the top of my head.

So Nancy, have one of your staffers find a copy of the Constitution and READ it.  Congress only gets involved in a Declaration of War and funding the armed forces.  Read it and weep.

Open Letter to Madam Speaker

Dear Nancy,
Thank you for beating back that ogre in the White House, who is dumb enough to think that victory is the only exit strategy.  Thank you for stabbing our troops in the back by mobilizing 435 lawyers and professional politicians, most of whom have never worn the uniform of our armed forces.  They know so much more about strategy and tactics than all those over trained professional military officers.   But most importantly, thank you for aiding and abetting our enemies.  Suicide bombers and terrorists worldwide are thrilled that the American Congress has no backbone.  You should cut off the war effort's funding just to show old GW who is boss—that’s what this is all about, right?  As a veteran I could tell you that my friends and family who serve in harms way are so proud of their Congress.   But I wouldn't want to lie to you.  It does remind me of Vietnam—liberal Democrats in charge of Congress wanting to cut and run.

GI

P.S.  Victory is the only strategy—and if the generals say it takes 21,000 more troops then Congress needs to stop talking and starting listening.
